Karen Maier is Vice President of Marketing for Frisch’s Restaurants. She has led the company’s marketing efforts for more than three decades, and in 2005 she was elected to the company’s board of directors.
An active community leader, Ms. Maier is currently a Trustee on the Board of the FreeStoreFoodBank. Previous board participation includes Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, Community Resource Center (ReSource), the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and Impact 100. She was a member of Leadership Cincinnati, Class XXV.
Ms. Maier is a native of Cincinnati and holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Karen became involved in Impact 100 when she met Diane Dewbrey during Leadership Cincinnati. Diane was one of the founding members of Impact 100, and Karen liked the idea that she could donate money and not participate. She was already committed to board service for other not-for-profit organizations. Add to that having a full-time job and playing as much golf as she could fit into her schedule. She joined in 2003 and only attended the awards ceremony. The following year, she recruited her mother and couple of her mother’s friends.
Not being involved did not last long, and Karen joined the Impact 100 board in 2005 where she chaired the Marketing Committee until 2007. Karen currently serves on the CIRC committee, which allows her to participate electronically because of schedule conflicts.
Karen says, “It’s great that I can fit Impact 100 to my calendar because it is so gratifying to be a member of this group. The work we do is incredible, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I certainly couldn’t do it on my own. I look for opportunities to promote Impact 100 to other women because the need is so critical, and what we do is so simple. You can give as much time as you want, or as little depending on your situation. And the friends you meet along the way are life changing. It’s a win/win situation. My sister Linda has just joined for next year and I hope she gets as much from this fabulous group of women as I have.”
