Impact 100 Founder, Wendy Steele, challenged the Impact 100 members and guests, with these questions at the Annual Awards Celebration on September 16, 2010. Wendy, who resides in Northern Michigan, and retains her Impact Cincinnati membership, shared her thoughts on Impact 100 and Women in Philanthropy during her visit. Wendy shared that Impact 100 was formed on the heels of September 11, 2001, and the country was in turmoil. The board asked themselves “should we be doing this?” The answer came in the form of these questions —
If not us, who? If not now, when.
We can ask ourselves these same questions, and more as we look to 2011. Yes, our economy is struggling. Yes, our retirement accounts are dwindling. Yes, I don’t know what the future holds. But what about these questions: Who will help those who cannot help themselves? Who will help feed the hungry, educate the children, clothe the naked? Who will help provide medical care to those who can’t afford it? “But I’m just one person”, you say, what can I do?
YOU can help. As much as we’d like to, most of us cannot write a check for $100,000, but you effectively can! Your Impact 100 membership of $1000 is matched 100 times and becomes a $100,000 grant that our Non-Profit Community now depends upon to feed, educate, clothe, medicate, and reach out to those in need.
Join Impact 100 for 2011, by joining by 12/31/10.
If not you, who? If not now, when?
